Place the towel on the cutting board and place it close to the sink. This is where you will ultimately put your water treated figure. The point is to have something that will absorb dripping and pooling water, but will not damage the surface it is left to dry on.

You want to have your cutting board as close to your workspace as possible. Find a level spot with at least 15" of clearance and set you cutting board down with the face cloth flattened on top. It is important to keep the face cloth as wrinkle free as possible, since your treated figure will need to stand on the face cloth for roughly half a day, and any excessive movement will destroy all the work you are about to do.

This will make sense later on.
