SYNOPSIS
The barren world of Praesitlyn, home to a crucial Republic communications center, is under siege by a massive Separatist army. If the center is destroyed, countless Republic worlds will collapse—giving the Separatists a major advantage for victory in the Clone Wars. With Republic troops already stretched to the limit, supreme chancellor Palpatine can spare only a small contingent of clones to defend Praesitlyn. They will fight under the command of Jedi master Nejaa Halcyon and the brash young Padawan Anakin Skywalker, eager to prove himself worthy of the rank of Jedi Knight.

Even with the unexpected help of mercenary Zozridor Slayke and his Sons and Daughters of Freedom, the Republic forces are outnumbered and outgunned. The situation is grave. The communications center will be seized, vital equipment destroyed, the technicians massacred—unless Anakin Skywalker can strike a crucial balance between the wisdom born of the force...and the instincts of a born warrior.
