As revealed during Toy Fair back in February, Hasbro is ending the
Galactic Heroes line and replacing it with an all-new line called "Jedi Force". While they have done a "
Jedi Force" before (
see gallery here), those figures were on a much larger scale and only lasted a short time.
The
Galactic Heroes line was a smaller scale, available in a wide variety of formats: 2-packs, 3-packs, battle packs, vehicles, and eventually single packs at discount stores. That line lasted for 9 years, and also inspired similar expressions for Marvel Comics'
Super Hero Squad, Indiana Jones'
Adventure Heroes, Transformers'
Robot Heroes, G.I.Joe's
Combat Heroes, and (let's face it) a similar style for Mattel's
DC Comics Action League line, among others.
Eventually,
Galactic Heroes pretty much covered all the main characters multiple times, with an army of trooper repaints, and a lot more creatures than you'd think they would have done. (Some characters have actually been made in this line before being added to the action figure line...which hopefully will be corrected soon!) Therefore, Hasbro had to figure out a way to continue the line, but at the same time, refresh it for a new audience.
The new
Jedi Force line picks up the 2" scale expression, with all-new articulated figures & vehicles. There will be figure 2-packs, a small-scale vehicle/figure series, a "deluxe" line with mid-size vehicles and 2 figures, as well as a larger vehicle/playset (also includes figures). The vehicles are designed so they can accommodate the
Galactic Heroes figures as well, although it's likely some characters will not fit inside of them. (However, the JF figures will most likely fit inside the GH vehicles.)
In addition, the
Jedi Force figures fall under an overall "Playskool Heroes" banner, that will include
Transformers Rescue Bots and
Marvel Super Hero Adventures. All brands will be compatible with each other, so if you want to see Thor team up with Bumblebee to square off against Jar Jar Binks...you will get your wish!
