UPDATE: Question Mark: Special Report
Posted by Mark on February 18, 2007 at 12:12 PM CST:
We've gotten a lot of questions from fans wanting to know what was happening with the 3¾” Forged Figure line. Which figures would be the last produced? Are any more shipping to retail? Up until now we didn't know much, but we've finally gotten some answers that should help clear up a little bit of the mystery surrounding the final days of this assortment.

According to the latest information, Grievous and 3PO are indeed the last figures to be "officially" released. Only the painted versions of these characters were (or will be) available, it appears vintage patina versions were not planned. So, a complete Titanium Series Forged Figure collection should look a little something like this:

Darth Vader
Darth Vader (patina)
Darth Vader (Lava Reflection) Target
Darth Vader (Lava Patina) Target
Boba Fett
Boba Fett (Patina)
Sandtrooper
Sandtrooper (Patina)
Bossk
Bossk (Patina)
Clone Trooper (501st)
Clone Trooper (Patina)
IG-88
IG-88 (Patina)
General Grievous
C-3PO
Darth Maul (very limited release)*
Luke Pilot (very limited release)*

Two other 2006 figures, Darth Maul and Luke Snowspeeder Pilot, are now listed as "not released," despite the fact that at least one set was reportedly found in Canada. The two figures found both appear to be in IG-88 packaging, suggesting these may in fact be samples of some kind that could have shipped out in error.

In addition to the Maul and Luke figures, seven other figures planned for 2007 are now listed as "not released." These figures are: Jango Fett, Clone Trooper, "Ob1 Utapah Trooper," R2-D2, Utapau Shadow Trooper, Han Solo (ANH), and Tusken Raider (ANH). It's our understanding that while there are no current plans to release these nine figures, there remains the chance that some or all could make their way to retail as exclusives. In fact, that's pretty much the only way they'll ever be available according to the latest information.

Fans of the line will do well to watch for this final wave of figures, Grievous and 3PO. While I haven’t seen them for quite some time now, there’s always the chance that they could turn up. Less traveled retail chains like K-Mart and KB Toys could turn into Forged Figure gold mines, where the leading chains like Target and Wal*Mart have already taken away the assortments shelf space. As soon as we hear more regarding the line and potential exclusive releases we will keep you informed. Happy Hunting!

UPDATE: Since posting we've gotten a number of emails regarding the Maul and Luke Forged Figures. It appears these two saw very limited release in Australia and elsewhere overseas before Hasbro halted distribution. One domestic on-line retailer reportedly received a few cases directly from an overseas source, but has since sold out. It’s also our understanding that the same retailer was told just prior to Toy Fair that his domestic order was being cancelled. In addition, we received an email from a Canadian reader that suggests the figures showing up there are not samples, rather standard Canadian packaged figures which at times will use a single 'generic' design to reduce cost. Closer inspection reveals the box the Maul and Luke have shown up in, while similar to the IG-88 box, is slightly different and has tri-logo characteristics. You can currently view these two figures in our forum. As more information develops we will keep you posted.
