While we hate to publicize, and possibly encourage this type of behavior, it seems many Star Wars fans are coming across the new Vintage style figures that have had their Proof of Purchase Tabs pilfered. Fueled by a desire to acquire the Lucas Stormtrooper figure without having to pay for a full set of figures, some unscrupulous collectors have resorted to removing the POP tabs and resealing the packages. The tampered figures are then returned to the store for credit or money back, leaving the figures for the next unsuspecting fan.

Though the line has only seen limited distribution thus far, we've already received several emails from fans left wondering what happened to their POPs. To protect yourself from this, be sure you know what you're looking for. Don't buy figures that appear to have been resealed or tampered with in any way. Make sure you can see the offer instructions taped behind the Saga Collection logo on the black and silver bubble insert. Don't buy any figures unless they have the Saga Collection insert and/or UPC barcode.

With the Vintage line on the verge of wider distribution, there's bound to be a frenzy of activity in the toy aisle. If you find these figures be sure to take time and examine the packages carefully. If you find any Vintage style figures that have been tampered with, bring them to the store's attention. Awareness and action by honest collectors is the best way to protect ourselves, and others, from getting ripped off.

Happy Hunting!
