This fun, flip-over story book that can be read from front and back - instead of front-to-back - is perfect for young fans of LEGO Star Wars. Packed six engaging tales of Rebels and Imperials, it combines narrative and dialogue in flowing and easy to read text that is peppered by delightful illustrations by Ameet Studios.

"This book helps you to discover a galaxy full of adventures with LEGO Star Wars books! Join Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke, Princess Leia, R2-D2, C-3PO, Darth Vader and the rest of the LEGO Star Wars gang in this 2-in-1 Flip Over Reader! It features stories about two very different rebel heroes. In R2-D2, The Brave the feisty astromech droid is entrusted with one of the most important secret missions in the galaxy. Who but he can save his rebel friends from being cooked for dinner and can foil a bounty hunter's plan to kidnap a Rebel hero? In Han Solo's Adventures, you'll find out what happened when Han was left behind when his friends chased Imperial biker scouts and what he did when his beloved starship disappeared!"

With a silky texture and a poppy gloss finish the book's cover belies its affordable price, and its digest-sized format makes it comfortable for most children to hold. The quality of the cover and pages means that the book has a bit more heft that most children's books of the same size, and attests to the durability this book will provide.

Tautologically split in two halves, the book has an equal 57 pages devoted to courageous R2-D2 and braggadocios Han Solo, with a six page glossary of terms separating the two halves. Each of the character's section starts with a brief background check before proceeding to three individual stories.

Previously reviewed by Son of LEGOscum in his Scholastic: LEGO Star Wars Chapter Books piece (see R2-D2 To The Rescue) these three stories made more sense a second time around. In the original article Son of LEGOscum misunderstood the continuity and thought that it was a single story, rather that three short ones. Recounting the R2-D2 The Brave section of this 2-in-1 Flip Over Reader book, he states:

I'm glad I got to read this again because I didn't realise they were different stories before. I thought that each one was a chapter and it didn't really make sense because they didn't connect up. The first story in this half of the book is about R2-D2 and C-3PO who get picked up by Jawas and then sold to Wuher. While working at his cantina they cause all kinds of trouble and end up getting sold to Luke and Ben - and just in time to help blow up the Death Star. In the second story, which was my favourite, the droids have to help Han and Luke escape from Wampas and get back to the Rebel base to help stop the Imperials from invading. And the third story is about R2-D2 and C-3PO trying to stop Boba Fett, who has sneaked aboard the Rebel spaceship, from capturing Luke Skywalker while he rests after his fight with Darth Vader at the end of Empire.
Flipping the book over the reader is greeted by an inviting Han Solo who fronts three stories that haven't been published before. Son of LEGOscum summarises them:

In the first one the goodies ask Han if they can join his crew to escape Tatooine but when Han goes to the Millennium Falcon he finds it missing. He needs to find it quick and has to explore Mos Eisley while avoiding stormtroopers, bounty hunters and crime lords. The second story is on Endor and Han, Chewie, Luke, Leia and the droids have to destroy the satellite dish that protects the second Death Star. After bumping into Imperial speederbike patrols the gang are eventually successful and destroy the shield generator once and for all! Story number three catches up with Han after he finds the Millennium Falcon in The Force Awakens and discovers Finn and Rey are aboard. This gives Han a chance to brag about all the adventures he and Chewie have had aboard the Falcon.
Despite lacking any overt enthusiasm for doing a third book review for Rebelscum, our appraiser did enjoy himself and wants you to know:

I thought the flip-over feature was pretty rad because you can read one story and then the next minute you're reading a whole new one in the same book. But I didn't like how much Han Solo was bragging. I think it was a bit rude of him and doesn't teach good manners. But the stories about R2-D2 were good because he is so helpful. So the book literally has a good side and a bad side!
