This figure was included in the Cloud City Playset, but made its first appearance on The Empire Strikes Back 41 back card. This figure also appeared on a Canadian exclusive skin wrapped card*.

Comments: Believe it or not, the vintage Ugnaught action figure was not a peg warmer! Granted the ugly little dudes weren’t the first to fly off the shelves, but sell they still did. When Kenner’s Star Wars line was winding down, collectors were tripping over Endor Leias, and in some regions even Stormtrooper Lukes and Carbonite Hans, but the short guys with the make up cases were nowhere to be found… Granted, he was technically an army builder –even if it was an army of stunted unsightly pig guys with aprons and purses. Just check below to see what all the cross-dressing hype was about.

Major Variations: Though all vintage figures have minor variations, The Ugnaught figure’s only perceived major variation isn’t even on the molded figure itself, but instead on its material smock. Many collectors assume the smock was manufactured using both purple or blue cloth, but evidence is proving the color change to be a result of age and storage conditions. Their is no concrete proof that Kenner ever produced a purple smock.

There is rumoured to be a green smock, but there is absolutely no photographic evidence to support the rumour.

*The Canadian Skin Wrapped figures were produced for Sears Canada and were included as exclusive bonus figures in multi-packs created for the holiday catalog. Since these figures had not yet been released on card backs, Kenner produced them vacuum-sealed on lower quality cards that had every element a regular Canadian The Empire Strikes Back cards had save an actual character image or the individual colours on the name plate and behind the figure itself. The card back was completely unprinted. Though in some cases renamed from the mass released versions, the skin wrapped figures were: Dengar, Ugnaught, Lobot (Lando’s Aid), Han Solo (Cloud City Outfit), General Veers, Luke Skywalker (Hoth outfit), and R2-D2 with Periscope.
