Get your party pants on people, party underpants that is! Straight out of the decade that gave birth to Star Wars comes the Death Star Disco! With May the Fourth right around the corner, there’s a brand new line from MeUndies featuring three new Star Wars prints which are available now! There are also new additions to the types of garments available in the line, including onesies and boxer briefs with a fly.

Death Star Disco

Star Wars underwear is everywhere, so what makes MeUndies special? According to their website, they strive to “take exceptional care of their employees”, ensuring “fair wages and quality working environments”. Headquartered in Los Angeles, their factories are located in United States, Turkey, and Sri Lanka, and are audited several times a year to be certain standards are being met.

The company offers undergarments, socks, and loungewear created from Lenzing MicroModal, a “softer-than-soft” sustainably sourced fiber created from beechwood trees. They offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on your first purchase of underwear, socks, or bralette. So if after 90 days you don’t like them, you can exchange the item or receive a full refund.

And, unlike many other Star Wars garments which use stock imagery, MeUndies prints are created by their own in house art team, sometimes starting off as something as simple as a hand-drawn Chewbacca. And I think we can all agree, Chewbacca would totally approve of underwear made from trees, even if they aren’t wroshyr.

I decided to test out these underwear myself with sets from both the men’s and women’s collections. I wanted to be able to gather the opinions of someone with a different anatomical structure than mine. So, I asked my husband to be my test subj- uh, I mean assistant.

Death Star Disco

I must admit, I was excited when they arrived. The packaging, complete with Death Star disco ball logo, made it feel like I was about to open a present! Living up to the hype, their fabric is as smooth and soft as Lando’s favorite sleedaran silk shirt. My husband agreed, so we moved onto fit. Out of the three fun prints, we both grabbed for the lightsaber design. No surprise to anyone who knows us! It’s recommended to go a size up when ordering from MeUndies, and our experience confirmed that's a good idea. I'd advise others to do the same. Both pairs fit comfortably, snug but breathable, with plenty a range of motion without getting bunched or sliding around. We both agreed that they were among the most fashionable and high-tech underwear either of us owned. I often find that the waistbands of my underwear unravel quickly, or in my husband's case lose their elasticity, but I don't fear that will be the case with these. The bands are thick and lay flat without lacking in stretch. I also liked the durability of the flatlock stitching, but my husband didn’t. He felt on the lightsaber print boxer briefs that it made the stitching appear to have been done inside out. Although, it wasn't as noticeable on the other two new prints.

After a full day's wear, they met my expectations and, with so many options, I will be buying more in the future. Personally, I would like to see the underwear with these prints become available individually, as well as a special occasion where retired prints make a return. The Star Wars Disco collection is available now in 3-packs, onesies, and lounge pants, ranging from $45-$78 in price.
