Hasbro announced the production of The Retro Collection during a press event during the 2019 Toy Fair. This collection features action figures based on or inspired by the classic Kenner action figures released in 1978. The line launched with six single carded figures including Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia Organa, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and Stormtrooper, along with the Escape From Death Star board game which will include the very first classic Kenner style Grand Moff Tarkin carded action figure. All seven figures were released exclusively at Target stores on May 12, 2019, and saw wider distribution later in the year.
