COMMENTS
This issue concludes the official four issue adaptation of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.

As with many film adaptations, this particular issue has a scene not included in the final film (but available on the DVD) with a "trial" sequence on Geonosis.

Ur-Sema Du is the Jedi name for artist Jan Duursema, as created by friend and fellow Star Wars artist, Joe Corroney in the RPG Book Power of the Jedi. She decided to kill her character off in the arena, and as such her corpse is visble at the end of the battle.

A Jedi, very similar looking to Quinlan Vos is visible in at least two panels in the arena. While this index lists the character as Quinlan Vos, it should be noted that there is no confirmation that it is in fact him. Later issues of Republic actually place him in an undercover operation during this time.

Published both with an artwork cover by Tsuneo Sanda and a photo cover variant.
SYNOPSIS
In a meeting room within the planet of Geonosis, Count Dooku denies Senator Amidala's request to have Obi-Wan freed. They discuss the problems with the Senate and Dooku offers her a chance to join with him, which she dismisses. Dooku apologizes, but Obi-Wan will be executed and he has done all he can.

In the Senate, Senator Jar Jar Binks makes and impassioned speech to the gathered members asking to them to give the Chancellor emergency powers. Palpatine is gracious and promises he will lay down this power once the crisis is over. Observing the events, Yoda and Mace Windu decide to proceed by taking Jedi to Geonosis and receiving the clone army.

In a mock trial, Poggle the Lesser charges Anakin and the Senator with espionage and orders them executed in the arena. As they wait to be released into the arena, Amidala admits wholeheartedly her deep love for Anakin. They kiss and are moved out into the deafening sounds of the execution arena where Obi-Wan Kenobi is already chained to a pillar.

Padmé begins picking the lock on her shackles immediately, when the Geonosian leader orders the executions to begin. Three beasts, a reek, an acklay, and a nexu are released. Amidala scurries to the top of her pillar as the creatures attack. Padmé fights back which upsets Nute Gunray. Dooku tells him that she will die soon enough.

Suddenly Mace Windu appears behind Dooku with his lightsaber at Jango's throat at the same time as one hundred other Jedi's appear, igniting their sabers as well. Dooku informs Mace that he's seriously outnumbered...against one thousand battle droids.

Laser fire erupts as the arena becomes a melee. Mace is burned by Jango as he leaps to the arena floor.

The Jedi and begin slicing up battle droids, and the battle droids begin blasting the Jedi. Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padmé regain their freedom and weapons and assist in the battle.

On the arena floor Mace avoids a charging reek as Jango rockets down after him. The angry beast charges the bounty hunter who manages to kill it before turning on the Jedi Master. Mace presses the advantage and beheads Jango with his lightsaber.

Elsewhere Obi-Wan manages to dispatch the Acklay as a new squad of battle droids enters the arena, including one with a familiar protocol droids head which is quickly detached by a friendly astromech.

The remaining handful of Jedi is surrounded by battle droids and Count Dooku is just about to give the order to destroy them when a squad of Republic gunships drop into the arena dispatching handfuls of clone troopers. Mace joins Yoda on one gunship, while Obi-Wan, Amidala and Anakin hop onboard another. As the war now spills over to outside the arena, a young boy grieves over his dead father.

The troopers take the battle to the skies against droid starfighters as Obi-Wan's gunship follows Dooku to a secret hangar. Anakin and Obi-Wan confront Dooku, sabers drawn. Dooku quickly takes Anakin down with Sith lightning, while Obi-Wan puts up a much longer fight before being taken down. Just as Dooku is about to kill Obi-Wan, Anakin jumps back into the fray, two lightsabers swinging. But Dooku is a much more experienced swordsman and manages to slice off Anakin's right arm.

At that moment Yoda enters the hangar and has a most spectacular dual with the Count, forcing him to back away from the injured Jedi. Having little choice, Dooku drops a generator tower onto the fallen Jedi, forcing Yoda to stop the battle to save his friends. Dooku manages to escape in a solar sailor.

He lands on Coruscant in a private hangar and meets with Darth Sidious, his master, and informs him the war has begun.

Obi-Wan feels glad that the clones were able to lead them to victory. Yoda corrects him that the was has just begun. Meanwhile somber representatives of the Senate watch as thousands of clone troopers board battleships in preparation for the upcoming battles.

Finally on Naboo, in a private ceremony, Anakin and Padmé are married.
