Sideshow Collectibles is the new kid on the block as far as Star Wars licensees go. With only a handful of items released so far, it's been difficult to know what to expect from this company. There was nothing to be concerned about. What was on display at Toy Fair blew us away! Once you see the amazing amount of detail put into each and every piece, you'll be hooked. Take my word for it...these collectibles need to be SEEN in person to be fully appreciated!

12" Figures 1:6 Scale Figures
Don't call them 12" action figures.

Since taking over the 12" figure line last year, fans have been anxiously waiting to see what Sideshow Collectibles will come up with. Two different lines have been announced so far. Order of the Jedi, which includes Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kit Fisto, and Mace Windu. Heroes of the Rebellion only includes Han Solo so far, but the full lineup has not yet been announced. The prototypes for all six figures were on display, and we got a chance to play with them, um, I mean test them out before the show began (Check us out on Sideshow's Toy Fair gallery for Saturday.) Luckily, the Sideshow repair crew were on hand to take care of any mishaps that may have taken place. What was REALLY cool is that after we were done shooting these figures, Sideshow left some of them in the exact same poses for the duration of the show!

Having a chance to look at these figures up close, you can easily see the dedication to accuracy and the attention to detail in every single element of these figures. These aren't merely toys you can play with. These are the perfect blend of museum quality pieces and and action figures. Keep these out of reach of children. From talking with Sideshow, you can hear that these guys are big fanboys like the rest of us, and even small details like the width of the stripes down Han Solo's pants are scrutinized and the placement of Luke Skywalker's belt are discussed until everything is just right.

As for the future of the line, there will be more assortments to be announced. And despite rumors to the contrary, there will be more than just male body types used. In fact, we will see a female character before the year is through as well as a character that is not exactly human. Armored characters are also in consideration, and we'll see characters from across the Expanded Universe as well. With the respect that Sideshow is giving this line, let's bid farewell to the term '12" action figures' and use the proper name...1:6 Scale Figures.

1:4 Scale Figures
Sideshow's initial line of Star Wars collectibles has also expanded this year. The entire 1:4 Premium Format line was on display: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, General Grievous, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Princess Leia. Much like the 1:4 Scale figure line, the tiniest details are captured in each figure. From the wrinkles on Obi-Wan's face to the lightsaber damage on the floor from General Grievous, it's these little touches that set these pieces apart from the crowd. Add in electronic lightsabers for the duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, it's small wonder these items sell out so quickly.

1:1 Scale Busts
Also on display is another new line...1:1 Scale busts. The first two collectibles recreate Darth Maul and Greedo, both memorable characters from the saga. Each individual wrinkle and pore found in each character are brought to life, and they even wear real clothing to match their appearance onscreen. These busts are so life-like, it's scary. Did you know Darth Maul wore an earring?

Medicom Super Deformed
Previously only available in Japan, Sideshow will be importing Medicom's Darth Vader and Stormtrooper Vinyl Super Deformed Star Wars figures to the US. Vader comes with a removable dome, and both figures are articulated for a variety of poses.

Other Properties
Naturally, there's a lot more than Star Wars coming from Sideshow Collectibles, and they had a ton of items on display in a variety of scales from properties such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Terminator 2, Lord of the Rings, Marvel Comics, classic movie monsters like Frankenstein, Phantom of the Opera, The Mummy, and modern day movie monsters from Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Child's Play, and more. Looking through these galleries gives you chills down your spine at the thought of just what the future holds for the Star Wars line.
