COMMENTS
This issue begins the official four issue adaptation of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Similar to Episode I and Episode II, these four issues were published on a weekly basis, with issue #1 being released along with the TPB at the beginning of April, and the remaining issues released in the following weeks just before the film opened. This issue was actually available prior to its street date of 4/2/2005, and was seen as early as 3/16/2004.

As with many film adaptations, this particular issue has a scene not included in the final film (but available on the DVD) which has Obi-Wan and Anakin escaping from the Super Battle Droids and a chase into the fuel tank. There is also a scene with Mace Windu speaking with the Chancellor on the tarmac after the crash.
SYNOPSIS
The Republic homeworld of Coruscant is under attack by Separatist forces. Droid General Grievous, in a bold move, has kidnapped Chancellor Palpatine and is holding him on his flag ship. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker race towards the command ship in their Jedi starfighters while dodging droid tri-fighters and vulture droids.

Kenobi calls in assistance from Odd Ball, a ARC-170 clone pilot but soon falls prey to a missle loaded with buzz droids. The destructive little droids begin taking apart Obi-Wan's controls and he orders Anakin to continue. Anakin ignores the command and helps the wounded starfighter safely crash-land in the command ship hangar.

The two Jedi enter the ship, sensing a trap, and run into a group of destroyer droids and magna guards. The droids open fire, but the Jedi's superior reflexes and their lightsabers deflect the bolts. In tandem, they cut a hole in the floor and drop safely out of the firefight -- into a fuel tank! A squad of super battle droids follow them, but they manage to escape and make their way into the generals quarters where Palpatine is being held.

While the battle rages on outside, Dooku emerges and engages the Jedi in a sword fight. Kenobi is quickly knocked unconscious, and Anakin redoubles his efforts, and his emotions. Palpatine urges Anakin to unleash his aggression, to focus it. As they fight Anakin matches Dooku, move for move, until he is able to slice off the Count's sword hand. The Chancellor orders the Jedi to kill the Separatist leader. Dooku begs for protection, but Anakin using two lightsabers, decapitates the ex-Jedi.

Palpatine congratulates Anakin on doing what needed to be done and tells him to leave Obi-Wan. Anakin refuses and they head out of the ship, but are stopped by a force field and quickly surrounded by all manner of droids.

They are taken to the bridge and confront General Grievous. He readies a lightsaber to strike down the prisoners when Kenobi calls it to him with the Force, freeing himself and Anakin. The duo make swift work of Grievous' bodyguards and the General decides to escape by smashing through the front viewport, only to reenter elsewhere and jettison an escape pod.

Anakin mans the controls of the cruiser, which is burning up in the atmosphere. The ship begins breaking up, but Anakin manages to hold it together and crash into an unpopulated portion of Coruscant.

Mace Windu and a squad of clone troopers meets them, making sure that Palpatine is okay. He suggests that now is the time for peace. Palpatine feels that with Grievous still alive, the danger is greater. Obi-Wan departs with Master Windu while Bail Organa congratulates Anakin on his defeat of Dooku.

Just beyond everyone's sight, Anakin meets up with Padmé, his secret wife. Anakin no longer cares if people know or not about their deception, but Padmé tells him she is pregnant.

Meanwhile on the planet Utapau, Grievous is moving the Separatist council to Mustafar. he makes contact with Lord Sidious who informs him that the loss of Dooku was necessary to ensure their victory, and his gaining of a new, younger apprentice.
