After the enslavement of their people by the Empire, the captains and crews of the Mon Calamari fleet defected to the Alliance, bringing with them the capital ships that changed the Rebellion from a collection of disaffected partisans to a dangerous military force. Though most of these unique ships are retrofitted luxury starliners, each is nearly as powerful as the mighty Imperial Star Destroyers against which they were pressed into service. With more efficient defensive systems, and firing solutions designed specifically to defeat Imperial tactics, the Mon Calamari fleet served with distinction against the overwhelming forces of the Empire.
