Votes from the second round of Ideas 2017 selections have been tallied and, sadly, none of the LEGO Star Wars projects have made the cut with both UCS X34 Landspeeder and UCS Rey Speeder not getting final approval. In positive news I Am Your Father has broken through the 10k vote ceiling and will move on for review in the next round. Our current favourite is DanDare006's Cloud City Play Set. Head to LEGO Ideas if you want to learn which project was accepted for production.

While LEGO isn't accepting any more Ideas proposals for any of IPs that they have already licensed, we wanted to highlight this Cloud City play set, built at MicroFighter-scale because it is so inventive. Unlike many Ideas pitches this hasn't been mocked up with a CAD package but is actual (ABS) bricks and mortar. And while it is compact and bijou - the set includes all the iconic Cloud City locations - it uses space well and circles around the gantry where Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader had their famous father and son face off. If you'd like to see that scene produced check out I Am Your Father which needs less than 400 votes to make it to the final LEGO review panel.

As we reported back in April, our friend Shannon McRandle is in need of some financial assistance after being diagnosed with AS and Stage 3 Cancer among numerous other health issues. To help raise funds, Official Pix is hosting a private autograph signing and 100% of the net proceeds are being donated to her. Check out this great cause right here and please help spread the word.

With news that the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive for 2017 is a BrickHeadz Spiderman/Venom and Supergirl/Martian Manhunter many are reflecting on the entire nature of the convention exclusive. For some the annual hunt for the LEGO convention exclusive is an integral part of the event while for others - mostly those who can't go in person - it is a major speed bump to maintaining a complete collection, and the latest issue of Blocks Magazine has an editorial on it reports Brick Fanatics. It's worth noting that LEGO currently has three BrickHeadz themes - DC, Marvel and Disney - and so far two of the three are being represented at SDCC. Is there room for another or would that triple the ire aimed at LEGO already?
