These gigantic vehicles were originally brought to Tatooine by Corellian prospectors hoping to mine the desert sands for saleable metals, only to be abandoned when the planet's depths proved as barren as its surface. They have since been repurposed by the native Jawas, who often live and travel by the hundreds in the vast, warren-like interior. These desert scavengers use their sandcrawlers as traveling market places, hunting lodges, and – if the situation demands it – fortresses.
