Published in 1995, River of Chaos featured Princess Leia as she takes on an assignment on the planet M'Haeli shortly after the Battle of Yavin. However, Leia's mission might be doomed to failure, as an Imperial agent Ranulf Trommer is also on the planet, spying on the rebels. Soon Ranulf is forced to fight one battle of this war, a battle that rages in his soul. When Governor Grigor's Imperial Forces clash with Princess Leia's Rebels, Ranulf must choose between his Imperial allies and the Rebel named Mora he has come to love.
