In 1978, the very first book in the Expanded Universe, Splinter of the Mind's Eye by Alan Dean Foster continued the adventures of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia after A New Hope, as they took the droids to the swamps of planet Mimban where they meet an old woman named Halla who takes them (along with the Yuzzem Hin and Kee) on a journey to find the legendary Kaiburr crystal, capable of giving its possessor an invincible mastery of the Force. In the right hands, it could save the galaxy. But in the wrong hands, it could destroy it. But another seeks the same crystal...the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader!

This four-issue comic series by Tery Austin and Chris Sprouse was published in 1995 and adapts the novel with new covers by Hugh Fleming. Duncan Fregredo provided the cover artwork for the collected edition.

I'm undecided but interested in seeing it added to the Photo Archive.
I'm more vexed at why toy collecting news is suddenly exclusive to USA Today instead of a site I go to for my Star Wars news...
