Ah, these pesky Pit Droids! By now you may have heard the problems with bringing these Bonus Pit Droids back out again.
A fan-favorite choice during the
2007 Saga Legends tournament, the original plan was to include both sculpts of the foreign exclusives in one set, with an accessory.
Then there was a problem locating the original tools from 1999 because they were not stored together, but in separate factories. Once it was determined which factory the original tools were kept, they still could not be found. So Hasbro decided to recreate the tools based on the original figures, because fans lobbied hard for the inclusion of the droids, and Hasbro knew that fans want both of them.
You'll also notice that these figures are more accurate than the previous sets: the white droids have the black paint deco on the necks, and the brown droids are actually brown, not maroon. The "storage locker" does not appear to be any different than the original release.
The cards will also include the "Fans' Choice" sticker on the bubbles. Look for these droids to be included in future assortments next spring.
