As the wind howls through the shattered window of what was once a Senatorial office, both Chancellor Palpatine and Anakin Skywalker undergo horrible transformations. Palpatine, gruesomely disfigured by feedback from his own Force lightning, throws off the guise of a kindly old man to assume his true identity as Darth Sidious, architect of the Clone Wars. Meanwhile, Anakin Skywalker, once a Jedi Knight, casts away all that he holds dear and embraces his anger to become the evil Darth Vader. Protected by a pair of what will become known as the Emperor's Royal Guard, they plot together the final destruction of the Jedi.
