Star Wars Miniatures
While Wizards of the Coast did not show any new figures at Toy Fair, I did get to speak with them at length about the upcoming sets Champions of the Force and Bounty Hunters. Keep reading, because we've also got a special treat at the end of the press release.

The expanded Star Wars saga is taken to the next level with two new STAR WARS Miniatures game expansion sets in 2006. With pre-painted standard-scale (30mm) plastic miniatures, the game allows players to stage exciting battles using characters from the Star Wars saga, including the feature films, computer games, novels, comics and animation, in an attempt to seize control of the universe.

Champions of the light side take on the powers of the dark side of the Force from across all eras of the Star Wars saga in the Champions of the Force™ Miniatures collection. Players can choose their allegiance and battle for the galaxy with Jedi Luke Skywalker and new characters to the game including Jaina Solo and Corran Horn from the best-selling Star Wars® novels. The Sith of the dark side include Darth Maul, Darth Nihilus, and more. The Champions of the Force™ expansion will be released in June 2006.

The Fett family dynasty lives on with the new Bounty Hunters Huge Pack expansion, which brings the Universe’s best bounty hunters, scum and villainy into the action. These lawless characters from all facets of the Star Wars saga include new Huge figures that range in size from 60mm to 130mm, and add another dimension to the battle for the galaxy. New miniatures include Chewbacca with damaged C-3PO, crab droid and Mistryl Shadow Warrior. The Bounty Hunters expansion set will be released in Fall 2006.

Each Champions of the Force booster pack contains seven random STAR WARS miniatures from the 60 figure set. Booster packs for the Bounty Hunters expansion include six random 30mm miniatures and one Huge miniature. Miniatures from both expansions can be used with the latest starter game: STAR WARS: Revenge of the Sith. The Champions of the Force and Bounty Hunters miniatures can be combined with other expansion sets to make the players’ ultimate Star Wars battle come to life!

Since both sets are still in the works, we didn't get to see much new except for the different packaging for the booster packs. However, we can expect to see them make their official public debut later this year at Comic-Con. Meanwhile, the Assault On Endor scenario pack is dues out later this month.

As promised, here is another look at the new booster packs for Champions of the Force, which gives you a sneak peek at three characters from the line-up.
