Nathan Sawaya is a New York corporate lawyer has a knack for building. Building with LEGO, that is. His brick-artistry and interest in the Star Wars universe can be seen in many of his creations. From a Stormtrooper mosiac to the DeathStar II, Nathan has won contests, been featured in print and on television for his unique hobby.
When he decided to make Han Solo frozen in carbonite, he made it life size from about 10,000 bricks. After about three months of on and off building, it was complete. As he describes on his website, "the sculpture can break down easily into smaller parts, thus making it mobile. Because, like most people, I like to take large sculptures of people frozen in carbonite with me whenever I travel."
