One of the more exciting aspects of last fall's Saga Legends tournament was that the field was wide open to EVERY figure in the modern line...including the Bonus Pit Droids that were only available overseas as a pack-in replacement for the Commtech Chips in the line at the time.

Many fans rejoiced, because these little guys are RARE! Especially the second wave, which is actually what we're seeing in the photos above. These are the "standing" droids with the "power converter" accessory, and they are the hardest of the bunch to find in the original Episode I packaging.

The plan is as follows:
We will see all three colors (white, brown, and orange) as running changes on these droids, along with the same accessory shown above. (Not sure why the converter is silver, but that will have to wait for another report...this may not be the final product.)

Then, after the orange deco run is finished, the plan is to bring in the other sculpt...the "sitting" droids with the "storage locker" accessory, which made up the first wave in the Episode I line. These would also be released in all three colors as running changes, with the locker accessory.

Now, you might recall that the original plan was to have one of each droid packed together with one of the accessories, changing colors and accessories during the production run. So why the change?

It's because the tooling for both Pit Droid figures are not in the same factory, and much like the search for the lost city of Tanis, they've been looking in the wrong spot! Remember, the tooling has been in storage for several years, but since Hasbro knows the fans want BOTH Bonus Pit Droids, the search continues.

So, assuming that the tooling can be found, we're going to see a total of 6 variants of Pit Droids in the Saga Legends lineup.
