Cast from the original maquette used by Indistrial Light and Magic for The Phantom Menace, a few hundred were presented as gifts to VIPs, cast and crew members.
This droid was scratch-built by Richard Miller in the ILM model shop, and presented in 1999 to Jon Snyder, then editor of Star Wars Insider Magazine, by Howard Roffman, Vice President of Lucasfilm.
