Starting April 30th, the Star Wars Episode III Official 2005 Pin Collection began in Canada. Produced by Activa Consumer Promotions Corporation, Star Wars characters from all six episodes of the saga were portrayed on pins which could be collected each day with a coupon in the newspaper from Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. Coupons for free collector's albums and "missed pin" coupons also ran throughout the promotion. By taking the coupon to a participating retailer (Shell, Safeway, Mac's, and Rogers Video), collectors could purchase a pin for $ 2.69 (CDN) plus taxes each. As well, subscribers with exclusive "PressCards" had the opportunity to purchase an entire set at once for the cost of $ 53.80 plus tax. Here are the pins from the Canadian collection:

In the UK, the Sun and News of the World carried the promotion beginning April 24th. The first 4 pins (Darth Vader, Bail Organa, Stormtrooper and Qui-Gon Jinn) were free along with the collector album. The entire set is the largest with 26 pins, including all of the above as well as a Clone Trooper, Palpatine, Qui Gon Jinn, Jango Fett, Tarfful and Lando Calrissian. The cost for these pins was 3.99 (UK pounds) for a set of two.

In Australia, pin sets were sold thru the Sunday Telegraph and Daily Telegraph newspapers. At the beginning of the promotion on May 8th, the Luke Skywalker pin was free with the collector album. However, there were only the following 15 pins in the set at a cost of $ 2 (AU) each:
Anakin, R2-D2, C-3PO, Jabba, Chewbacca, Han, Luke, Leia, Padme, General Grievious, Clonetrooper, Obi Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Palpatine and Yoda. As well, the Australian pins look slightly different around the border, which is more silver without the extra detailing the Canadian and UK versions have.

Because the Canadian, UK and Australian sets have different pins in them, each collector album is different. As well, each city in Canda that carried the pin sets had a collector album with the name of the participating newspaper printed on the back, thereby making them unique. Here is the album from Winnipeg, Canada:

Thanks to Dave Mertz for the link to the Australian pin promotion.

UPDATE: from Rob:
Here's some extra information on the ROTS pins here in Australia. In the state of Tasmania, there's 15 pins, available in the Mercury. In the state of Queensland, there's 20 pins, with a slightly different (to NSW and TAS) album, available in the Courier Mail and the Sunday Mail. In the state of New South Wales, there's 15 pins, available in the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph.

There are a bunch of promo items associated with this release I've seen so far:

Badges, around 5" in diameter, with "collect your pins here" on it
Shelf talkers, also with "collect your pins here" on it
A 6" tall die-cut Vader counter standee
A 5'10" tall die-cut Vader standee
A4-sized promo posters (glossy, not newspaper quality)

Hope that helps !"

Also, this in from GNT:

"The 5 extra pins that QLD got were Boba Fett, Dooku, Bail Organa, Darth Maul and Qui-Gon. Also the Australian pins were like holograms - tilt the pin one way and you have an image of the character, titlt it the other way you've got the OT counterpart."

Thanks to Rob, Hemish, Craig and GNT for all the additional information!
