Dark Horse Report: What's Coming?
Posted by Jay on September 29, 2008 at 09:45 AM CST:
This weekend at the Baltimore Comic-Con, Director of Publicity Jeremy Atkins and DH Editor Scott Allie (Hellboy, Umbrella Academy, Buffy) spoke about the companies recent accomplishments, as well as some new developments for the next year.

While they spent the majority of time speaking about their Conan, Hellboy, Buffy and Manga lines, we did manage to get word on a couple of things of interest to Star Wars fans.

Firstly, the official word on Crimson Empire III? Randy Stradley denies it's happening in the FAQ at the DHBoards. Yet, Publisher Mike Richardson intimated to Comic Book Resources that CE3 was inevitable. "There are no plans for Crimson Empire III" at the moment, says Atkins, who also seemed to know that I would ask this question. Weird?

Next, the return of Dark Times will happen next year. Doug Wheatly, while not mentioned by name, only as 'that fan favorite artist who is incredibly critical of his own work', will return for the next arc. Rebellion will also return but no further details have surfaced.

The Clone Wars will run it's course and end after 6-issues (it's a mini series after all), but Dark Horse is enthusiastic to see the series continue. While the digest version of The Clone Wars will continue coming out quarterly for the foreseeable future.

And finally, as I mentioned on the latest episode of The Force-Cast, a new digest sized book will start publication early next year called Star Wars Adventures. It will feature the same animated art style of the current digest sized books, and will focus on the Classic Trilogy characters, including Han and Chewie. Look for a story from Jeremy Barlow in the first issue.

Also, when asked about the Indiana Jones line, they could not offer any information beyond the conclusion of "Tomb of the Gods", and the upcoming Omnibus reprints of the Marvel Further Adventures of Indiana Jones. Hopefully, with a new paperback novel on tap for next year, we'll see some more comic adventures as well.

Be sure to stay tuned for updates as they occur!
