Drew Karpyshyn Signing
Posted by Jay on October 21, 2006 at 01:00 PM CST:
The Place: Book-A-Million, Hanover, MD
The Time: Friday, October 6, 2006

Joined by over a dozen members of the 501st Old Line Garrison, Drew Karpyshyn read, talked about and autographed copies of his newest book from the Old Republic Era, Darth Bane: Path of Destruction. Mr. Karpyshyn, who may be known to some readers as the writer of Bioware's Knights of the Old Republic video game, discussed his introductions to the Star Wars universe, his experiences writing the Darth Bane novel, and provided tips to aspiring writers on how to get into the business.

The author read two selections from his novel, discussing a little of how his editors guided him through the process, and tantilized those in the crowd that had not yet read the book. He then entertained questions from the crowd that included, his future Star Wars plans (none to speak of), what background is necessary to appreciate the novel, and, as one little boy asked, "when is the movie coming out?"

Drew then signed and chatted with the crowd, making time for those that wished to speak to him. He even signed some fans neck, as he and his buddies disappeared back into the Mall crowd.

During a slight lull in the signing the Executive Officer of the Old Line Garrison, Bryan White, presented Mr. Karpyshyn with his Honorary Membership into the 501st. He recieved a laser etched acrylic plaque, joining other authors such as Timothy Zahn, Aaron Allston and Terry Brooks.
