This is an interesting wave for several reasons. The pack out details are as follows: there are eight in the box, two Jaws and two Death Squad Commanders and one each of C-3PO, Chewbacca, and the Stormtrooper. The box is way smaller than that of wave one and keeps the figures tightly stacked next two each other. We fear this will result in bent cardbacks, dented bubbles, and abrasions on the bubbles as associates yank these out of the tightly packed boxes to put them on the shelf. We are already seeing it with this box.
Regarding the case assortment, it was great that Hasbro recognized that people are going to want to troop build Jawas and Death Squad Commanders and packed two of each in each assortment, as opposed to packing two C-3POs and two Chewbaccas. These are also new characters and as of yet available only in the 40th Anniversary format. The trouble will be with the Tusken Raider and the Stormtrooper. Fortunately Hasbro is also releasing the next red-box wave next month with the Tusken Raider in that assortment and available for solid case pack ordering. However, people are going to want to add the cardback version to their collection along with the Stormtrooper cardback, so we anticipate that these will be hard to come by at retail. Also the Stormtrooper has not been widely available since 2014 and is the very essence of troop building, so this is going to be really tricky to find as no doubt collectors will want to purchase as many as they can find.
Start checking stores in your areas, as these should be hitting shelves between now and the middle of June. Let us know how you fare and let us know the conditions of the items you are finding. If any of you ordered cases from some of our sponsors, it would also be nice to hear about the condition of those items that are coming untouched.
