Rebelscum readers Gretchen & Caribou write in with a detailed report of last weekend's Star Tours: The Adventures Continue soft opening...

"As we all wait for the official opening of the new and improved Star Tours at Disney's Hollywood Studios on May 20th, the park started soft-opening the ride on the 14th. Which means they are testing the ride and it can open and close at any time. There is no set schedule or official plan of when and if this will happen throughout the day.

"Luckily our Dad took us to the park this morning in hopes that the ride would be opened some time today. And luck was on our side because after only waiting 45 minutes to see if the ride would be opened, it was to cheers from the crowd that was waiting. We don't want to spoil the surprises for everyone that will be enjoying flights around the galaxy soon, yet we have to say that each trip we took today was pretty cool. Out of the five flights we were able to get booked on, we went to Naboo, Hoth, Kashyyk, & the second Death Star. There are still more places in the galaxy to visit. The addition of 3-D makes the scenes even more fun to be a part of.

"There are plenty of fun surprises during the flights, as well as plenty more in the queue line. From watching luggage getting scanned, going through a security check point, watching other passengers as they head to their flights in the level above you, seeing and hearing characters for the original Star Tours adventure around the facility, a new pre-boarding video (that clues you in on your StarSpeeder pilot), and a courtesy call for a special citizen of the galaxy, there is plenty to be on the look out for. These are just some of the fun of using Star Tours to book your intergalactic vacation.

"Since this is a soft-opening no pictures are allowed inside the facility itself, but we were allowed to capture some images while in the queue line outside the Star Tours main hanger. There were great Disney Cast-Members welcoming us to Star Tours and even Ahsoka Tano stopped by. Hope everyone gets a chance to experience the fun of Star Tours in your very near future and when you do get to take your trip, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did ours.

Gretchen & Caribou"
