Sunstar Americas, Inc. Teams with Lucasfilm Ltd. to Develop New Star Wars?-Themed Children?s Toothbrushes

CHICAGO ? August 30, 2011 ? Today, Sunstar Americas, Inc., a Chicago-based dental products manufacturer, and Lucasfilm Ltd., a leading film and entertainment company, announced a licensing agreement to launch a new line of manual and power toothbrushes featuring iconic characters and lightsabers from the Star Wars film saga and ?Star Wars: The Clone Wars?? hit television series.

Earlier this year, Lucasfilm announced the 3-D movie release date of Episode I: The Phantom Menace for February 2012. Sunstar will launch the new Star Wars toothbrushes just in time for the movie release to meet the demand of the millions of Star Wars fans everywhere.

?We recognize that good oral health has an impact on total health, and developing healthy oral care habits early in life is essential,? said Nikki Lockett, senior marketing manager for Sunstar Americas. ?We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Lucasfilm Ltd. to provide beneficial and entertaining oral care products.?

The new line of GUM? Star Wars toothbrushes will appeal to enthusiastic, young Star Wars fans, while satisfying the most discriminating oral health-conscious parent. The brushes are available in power, manual and light-up designs.

The manual toothbrushes include well-known Star Wars icons Darth Vader, Clone Captain Rex, Yoda and Anakin Skywalker. The brushes are designed with Dome Trim? bristles, clinically proven to reduce gingivitis.[1]

Fans can feel as if they are a part of the Star Wars galaxy with their own light-up lightsaber toothbrush. The brush flashes for one minute to encourage kids to brush longer. Available in three distinct lightsaber designs, these toothbrushes have interdental bristles to clean hard-to-reach areas between teeth.

Power toothbrushes complete the line of products. These brushes feature an oscillating brush head with soft bristles to effectively clean teeth, while gently massaging gums.

?Sunstar Americas is an ideal partner to develop this new line of toothbrushes given its reputation for providing high-quality products which are trusted and recommended by dental professionals,? said Paul Southern, senior director of global licensing at Lucasfilm, Ltd. ?We are looking forward to our exciting, new partnership with Sunstar.?;

Manual toothbrush displays will be hitting store aisles in February 2012, with additional power and light-up toothbrushes coming in April 2012. For more information visit www.GUMbrand.com.
