There are plenty of Slave I vehicles warehoused at Amazon to both process all of the returns and exchanges, and accommodate new orders. Don't panic! Amazon has a policy to "pull the cord" and re-evaluate an item with a high return / exchange policy, so this was part of their protocol.
If you received a damaged Slave I box, contacted customer service and were only given the option for a refund, wait it out. Customer service representatives cannot process exchanges for an item that is unavailable, so that's why the only option being offered at this time is a refund. When the Slave I is available again, the customer service reps will be able to offer an exchange. The Slave I is expected to be available again as early as tonight so keep checking the listing on Amazon.com
. All replacements--and new orders--will ship with proper crush protection in mind.
If you received a damaged Slave I box, but can live with it and would rather not go through the exchange process, you have the option to contact Amazon customer service to get a price adjustment. Amazon customer service can be reached via phone at 1-888-280-3321.
Finally, a tip for the bargain hunters. Amazon frequently lists refurbished and damaged boxed items, that are otherwise in working order, at discounted prices in its Amazon Warehouse
listings. While there was no guarantee that the exchanged Slave I's would end up in the listings, it's worth keeping an eye on.
