Looks like the reported "Star Was badges" pack-in report that surfaced earlier today was inaccurate. Rebelscum reader Aaron Slagle writes in with news on just what these "Star Wars badges" are all about....or rather were all about.

Hi Dan,
Here's some info on the Star Wars badges that are purported to be the new Hasbro pack-ins:
  • The badges were made by the Japanese company Yujin in 2002.
  • They were sold in capsule toy machines.
  • There were 5 series of pins with 15 in each set (14 regular and 1 mystery chase pin), for a total of 75 pins.
  • They are about 1" in diameter.

Attached is a photo of my near complete set (missing only the chase pins).

I think it's very unlikely Hasbro would use these as pack-ins, especially since they were made 8 years ago, and by a different company. They're also quite sharp and wouldn't be appropriate for younger children.

    Hope this info helps!

    Regards,
    Aaron Slagle

Thanks for the report, Aaron! Hopefully this will clear things up while we await OFFICIAL word on just what this year's pack-in will be. Toy Fair can't come soon enough...!
