The Star Wars Prequel and Original trilogy are being re-released on Blu-ray in the United Kingdom with a special collectible steelbook version for the first time.

TO BE RELEASED ON STEELBOOK FOR THE FIRST TIME, IN LIMITED EDITION


(United Kingdom, February 18, 2013) After becoming one of the best-selling catalogue Blu-ray Discs of all time when launched in 2011, Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced today that the beloved Star Wars trilogy collections will be re-released as a limited edition steelbook on April 8, 2013.

The trilogy collections -- Prequel (Episodes I-III) and Original (Episodes IV-VI) -- now packaged in new, exclusive and collectible steelbook artwork are available for preorder.

Amazon.co.uk does have both the Prequel and Original trilogy listed on their site, but neither is available to pre-order yet. It's important to note that these are only listed as Region B/2 and not Region Free for anyone without a compatible player.

Back before the world wide web and social media ruled our shopping habits there was a long-established practice of driving around all the nearby toy stores to hunt down the latest releases. Obviously times have changed and online retail is far more important than it was twenty-five years ago - but has it killed the toy run? What was your shopping experience over the Triple Force Friday product launch weekend?
I managed to find everything I wanted in stores!
I found some but had to resort to big box websites to complete my haul.
I didn't bother stepping outside and ordered everything online.
I haven't bought any of the TFF product yet. Roll on clearance sales.
I'm waiting for the TV series/movie release before I commit.
I've so over it, no more Star Wars collecting for me.
