A little bit later than planned, Hasbro's The Vintage Collection continues with the fourth wave, featuring characters from Attack of the Clones. This is a pretty big wave with a selection of main characters, secondary characters, troop builders, and even one figure that's all-new!

"Free" Boba Fett Offer:
The offer is not part of this wave, so there are no stickers on the cards.

VC29: Kit Fisto:
Kit Fisto
Kit Fisto Kit Fisto
Kit Fisto Kit Fisto
The first figure in this wave is another version of Kit Fisto, most memorable for his signature smile. While this head sculpt doesn't include a smile (perhaps this is actually based on his appearance in Revenge of the Sith?), this should in no way deter you from adding it to your collection. Simply put: this is a great figure.

The Jedi figures have certainly come a long way since the 2002 SAGA line...and this version of Kit Fisto is a great example of that. Not only does he have all standard articulation points demanded by fans, but the inclusion of ball-hinged hips allows for a much wider range of movements. This is something that ALL Jedi figures should have going forward.

As far as accessories go, you get 2 lightsabers. Actually, it's the same lightsaber, but in both "on" and "off" positions, and the "off" version includes a peg that can be plugged into Kit's belt. This is really the best way to get both versions, as the removable blades from the past quite often ended up breaking. Throw in a soft goods Jedi robe that is designed to fit over Kit's rather large head, and you've got what is easily my favorite figure in this wave.

VC30: Zam Wesell:
Zam Wesell
Zam Wesell Zam Wesell
Zam Wesell Zam Wesell
Here's another nice surprising figure! While the character of Zam Wesell did not appear in the movie for very long, she certainly had an impact on the story. Her latest action figure goes above and beyond anything that could be expected for her.

The figure itself sports all the super-articulation points here, allowing for a full range of motion and some dynamic poses. The only detracting factor is the plastic skirt. While it's actually a beautifully sculpted and painted piece, it does not allow for the character to sit down. Not that you'd want her to, necessarily...

The best part of this figure are the accessories: you get a blaster, a sniper rifle, 2 different scarves (one covering her face, the other drawn to one side), a removable helmet which includes flip-up scanners, and 2 different heads: human and Clawdite. The only feature this figure doesn't have is a removable arm (although it could be argued that it IS in fact removable....once!).

VC31: Obi-Wan Kenobi:
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi Obi-Wan Kenobi
Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi has seen quite a few action figures during the prequels, but many of them have had the "action feature" built in which often left a lot to be desired. Thankfully, those are now part of the past, and longtime collectors can smile and/or cringe at the sight of them.

Back in 2008's The Legacy Collection, the final wave of "Build-A-Droid" figures included a great new version of Obi-Wan from Episode II. Although there were some inaccuracies in terms of deco and accessories, subsequent re-releases have corrected those. Including this one.

This figure is a slight repaint of that TLC figure, with the correct lightsaber and a soft goods Jedi robe. The only thing that is still curiously missing is the plug-in hilt. There's a hold for it in the belt, but alas, nothing to plug into it. Perhaps with the next release?

One VERY obvious error (to me, anyway) is the carded figure shown as the "original" carded figure from 2002. This is not the correct figure...and the one shown was actually released in 2003!

VC32: Anakin Skywalker (Peasant Disguise):
Anakin Skywalker (Peasant Disguise)
Anakin Skywalker (Peasant Disguise) Anakin Skywalker (Peasant Disguise)
Anakin Skywalker (Peasant Disguise) Anakin Skywalker (Peasant Disguise)
There have been MANY Anakin Skywalker figures over the years. However, this particular outfit was only made back in 2002 during the "action feature" craze, and included an nod to the Kenner figure line with a built in telescoping lightsaber. Well, forget that. This "new and improved" Anakin figure is just that: all-new and vastly improved.

Once again, we're getting a super-articulated figure with a very detailed outfit, both in sculpting and deco. The likeness is decent for Anakin, with the padawan braid and all.

As for accessories, you get the lightsaber in the "on" and "off" positions I mentioned earlier, and the "off" version plugs into the belt, which is great. The poncho is...well, I mean, it's a soft goods poncho...what are you gonna do? Well, I'll tell you, Hasbro did something pretty creative here. The poncho could have just been slapped on, but Hasbro used some very creative stitching to get the folds just right, and helps cut down on the "poofiness". Nicely done.

VC33: Padmé Amidala (Peasant Disguise):
Padme Amidala (Peasant Disguise)
Padme Amidala (Peasant Disguise) Padme Amidala (Peasant Disguise)
Padme Amidala (Peasant Disguise) Padme Amidala (Peasant Disguise)
Here's an new figure for Padmé...not "new paint new" or "new update new" or "new cardback new", this is an ALL-NEW figure here! The character with the most costume changes in the history of all Star Wars, this particular outfit for Padmé has never been made before. Plus, it's a nice companion for Anakin to travel with. Check one more Padmé outfit off the wishlist! (Actually, two, but I'll get back to that)

The upper body includes the super-articulation you've come to expect, although the the ball-jointed neck is kind of wasted due to the long scarf. The lower body has zero articulation. This is due to the fact that it's completely covered by the long dress. She HAS legs (complete with pants!), but they don't move. Then again, they don't need to. The deco on the dress is a real highlight here...it's a very detailed Thousand Moons pattern.

Padmé comes with 2 different headdresses: one for when she was traveling to Naboo, and one for when she arrives. The material that covers the dress is removable so you actually get both outfits in one figure! She also comes with a Naboo blaster because...well, why not?

VC34: Jango Fett:
Jango Fett
Jango Fett Jango Fett
Jango Fett Jango Fett
The bounty hunter Jango Fett has also gotten multiple figures over the years, but this version is almost an "ultimate" figure, complete with most of the accessories seen in Attack of the Clones.

Since the figure is just a modified version of the 2008 Evolutions figure, you pretty much know what to expect: super-articulation, holsters, removable helmet, blasters...but this version also includes a poncho, pilot headgear, and the original backpack. The removable rocket doesn't fire, but it does include a nifty flame effect.

The jumpsuit is still purple. It's lighter than the Evolutions figure, and MUCH lighter than the Arena version, but it's still purple. I don't care if that's TECHNICALLY on-screen accurate or not, but I like Jango in blue. But that's just me, I guess....

VC35: Mace Windu:
Mace Windu
Mace Windu Mace Windu
Mace Windu Mace Windu
Although he may be a BMF Jedi Master, Mace's action figure history has been all over the place! We've seen some really good figures, and some not-so-good figures. This one...it's pretty good.

The base figure is the 2007 version, so you know it's super-articulated already. But what hurt that figure was the skirt. It really limited the poseability, and Mace needs to be able to move! So, Hasbro added in a soft goods skirt, and this helps a lot. The only thing that's missing is ball-hinged hips similar to Kit above, or even the latest version from The Clone Wars line.

Mace comes with his trademark purple lightsaber, both in the "on" and "off" positions, and the "off" version plugs into his belt. This is a pattern that should be followed going forward! Also, he comes with a Jedi robe. But the best part? Mace also has a brand-new head sculpt that not only looks really good, but has a serious no-nonsense expression that is way better than the deer-in-the-headlights expression from before. I know that was from a different movie, but c'mon...does Mace even change his clothes...ever?

VC36: Senate Guard:
Senate Guard
Senate Guard Senate Guard
Senate Guard Senate Guard
These guys have had quite a few names over the years: "Coruscant Guard", "Royal Guard", "Senate Commando", and now "Senate Guard". Back in 2000, the Power of the Jedi version was a big hit with fans who took a peek underneath the robes (plastic at the time, cloth since), because the body underneath was sculpted to match the armor worn by Kir Kanos in the Crimson Empire comic book series. So, the Expanded Universe was used as inspiration for the movie line. This is happening once again with this figure.

First off, the body of this figure is the same as the 2005 Revenge of the Sith version, with new arms (but not gloves) and head. So it has the sculpted armor underneath and the holster as before. However, the shoulders and elbows are all-new. This is where the fun begins...the shoulder armor is clearly inspired by The Clone Wars TV show. The Senate Commandos on the show include a huge shoulder pad on the left arm, and this figure does as well. A nice nod to the TV show!

The accessories included are pretty standard: rifle, pistol, and force pike (which strongly suggests we may once again see a new version of the red Emperor's Royal Guard). The soft goods robes are VERY well done, considerably better than back in 2005. In addition, it appears that the helmet IS in fact removable, but I'm still playing with it...it's a tight fit!

VC37: Super Battle Droid:
Super Battle Droid
Super Battle Droid Super Battle Droid
Super Battle Droid Super Battle Droid
Finishing off this wave is a "Greatest Hits" repaint. This Super Battle Droid figure was available many times over the years, although this is the version without the holes in the chest. (in fact, you can actually SEE the holes on the chest where they were filled in!)

There are some added details on the figure (besides "dirt" and "carbon scoring"), so if you're a loose completist, you need it.

For some reason, this figure also includes a blaster, despite the fact that he has built-in blasters on the right arm. Just give it to someone else if you don't like it...extra accessories are cool!

Stay tuned for more updates later tonight on the official Rebelscum.com Facebook page as I head back into the studio for more photos of this fourth wave from The Vintage Collection!
