Official Press Release from Topps:

New York, NY November 8, 2012….This year marks the 35th anniversary of the blockbuster Star Wars franchise. In celebration of this epic milestone, Topps is rolling out its most impressive card set to date. As a supplement to its just-released 2012 Star Wars Galactic Files 350-card set, Topps has announced a unique Limited Edition printing plate set. The limited edition release is also the final Topps Star Wars card product being produced under the original Lucasfilm ownership. With a retail price of $499.95 per set, it’s intended for the Star Wars collector who desires the very best.

According to Topps, “It’s particularly difficult, if not impossible to acquire all the printing plates in one shot. Printing plates have become quite collectible and command a premium within the Star Wars community.” With all the best Star Wars characters included in the set, many in multiple imaginings, it immediately becomes the rarest and most coveted Star Wars trading card set to date.

This set features the actual plates used to create each of the 350 different 2012 Topps Galactic Files cards. It includes four one-of-a-kind printing plates (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) as well as twenty-four exclusive Star Wars character cards in every box. Limited to only 350 boxes, this set is sure to become the hot topic of Star Wars collectors the world over. The premium collection is encased inside a super deluxe foil-stamped faux leather case and includes a sequentially numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

You can only purchase this set directly from Topps on shoptopps.com, and it will not be available in stores. The pre-sale of the product will begin sometime during the week of November 12th. To purchase this set as soon as it becomes available, you will need to go to shoptopps.com and sign up for the Star Wars alerts. This will allow you to be entered into a contest to win one of the sets, as well as give you an “alert” in advance when the product officially goes on sale. May the Force be with you!

Next September marks the twentieth anniversary of Hasbro's Kenner The Power Of The Force action figure collection. The line introduced a new generation of children to the wonderful world of Star Wars toys and ushered in the modern collectibles we all enjoy today. Our ever-inquisitive Probe Droid is actively searching all corners of the galaxy to find out if there is interest in products that commemorate this very significant 1995 release.
I'd be into a Hasbro The Lost Line style assortment
I'd love to see Gentle Giant make a Jumbo Kenner 1995 Luke Skywalker
I'm behind both of these ideas!
I got started in 1995, but I have no interest in such a concept.
It isn't for me.
