Following the Disney Planes , Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Guardians Of The Galaxy presentations, Disney saved the best for last and finished out their event with Star Wars Rebels.
The Star Wars section of the presentation first started off with a sneak-peek clip of the upcoming first season of Star Wars Rebels, which is scheduled to premiere this Fall. The 5-minute video clip explained the background of some characters that we will see within the first season, but mainly focused on the Jedi character Kanan, who is described as the "Cowboy Jedi", and will be voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.
Following the video clip, the event got real, when Freddie Prinze Jr. and two Stormtroopers surprised the crowd and walked on stage for a question and answer session. (The Stormtroopers were there for security, of course).
When Freddie made it on stage, the host, Jim, handed him LEGO's Ghost ship, which is piloted by Kanan. This LEGO ship will be priced at $79.99 and will be available in August 2014.
Freddie then explained how lucky he was to now become a part of the Star Wars legacy. He's close to forty years old and grew up around the Star Wars franchise. When he auditioned for the role, the show was initially supposed to be The Wolf, but Freddie didn't know the role was going to be for a Star Wars series and was totally caught off guard when he walked into the room and saw Dave Filoni, the Supervising Director of The Clone Wars. Oh, and the lightsaber was referred to as the sunsword! Ha!
It was also stated that the Star Wars Rebels series is half-way through recording the first season.
And that about wraps up Disney's Star Wars Rebels presentation. A lot of laughs were shared and fans from all around the world are excited to see a new Star Wars series adaptation coming this Fall!
