We tried an experiment this time and placed one order for an in-store pick up and one order for a home delivery at the same time and the home delivery order got fulfilled on time as promised. Two weeks later when orders opened again, we placed another home delivery order and that got filled as well even taking precedence over our original ship to store order.
It appears Walmart does not fulfill orders based on the first come first served philosophy that most businesses follow. We have seen this issue occur several other times, not just with Star Wars items but also highly demanded electronics. When orders open again it seems the new orders supersede orders placed previously, which is infuriating to customers who think that their preorders meant something. Our advice on future Walmart exclusives is to pre-order and then order again when it opens for regular sales, if you can, and be sure to ship to home. This should maximize your chances to get at least one and you can always return the other, if it gets fulfilled. No word on when to expect more of these but Walmart in the past year has dropped a small order of its exclusives only to oversupply six to nine months later. They did deliver on the Lando Skiff Guard, which is still available for order, so we anticipate seeing this one available again later this year.
