One of the most important steps in making a feature film the scale of a
Star Wars movie is the pre-visualizational story boards. These sketches are usually created in meetings with a director or visual effects supervisor and an artist (throw in at least one producer nine times out of ten). The point is to put the rough framing the director is envisioning on paper before going to camera. As anyone who works in film can tell you, these are only rough guides, and framing -like everything else in Movie Land- is finalized on set with actors and skilled technicians, but the story boards are always the first step.
