We've all heard the stories about how there was a period of time in 1982 where Return Of the Jedi was renamed to Revenge Of The Jedi, but since a Jedi doesn't seek revenge, the title went back to Return. During this period of time, there were products being developed under the Revenge banner, and in the case of Kenner's 3 3/4" action figure collection, the title was reflected on their packaging designs for the 1983 assortments.

The Revenge Of The Jedi card back design was changed to the Return Of The Jedi design before a single figure was blistered to them, so at this point there are no known examples of a Revenge Of The Jedi carded action figure. At the time Kenner was working on the line before the final name change, they had designed 50 card backs, which included the 48 figures available at the end of The Empire Strikes Back collection's run along with two more for figures that were never released on Return Of The Jedi: The original Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio figures. Since both saw upgrades in The Empire Strikes Back collection, there was no reason to release the original versions again.

The documented Revenge Of The Jedi proof card series includes:

-Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2)
-Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) (with Sensorscope)
-AT-AT Commander
-AT-AT Driver
-Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi
-Bespin Security Guard I
-Bespin Security Guard II
-Boba Fett
-Bossk (Bounty Hunter)
-Cloud Car Pilot
-Darth Vader
-Death Star Droid
-Han Solo
-Han Solo (Bespin Outfit)
-Han Solo (Hoth Battle Gear)
-IG-88 (Bounty Hunter)
-Imperial Commander
-Imperial Stormtrooper (Hoth Battle Gear)
-Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot
-Lando Calrissian
-Luke Skywalker
-luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues)
-Luke Skywalker (Hoth Battle Gear)
-Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Fighter Pilot)
-Power Droid
-Princess Leia Organa
-Princess Leia Organa (Bespin Gown)
-Princess Leia Organa (Hoth Outfit)
-Rebel Commander
-Rebel Soldier (Hoth Battle Gear)
-See-Threepio (C-3PO)
-See-Threepio (C-3PO) (with removable limbs)
-Star Destroyer Commander
-Tusken Raider (Sand People)
-Two-Onebee (2-1B)
-Walrus Man

Due to the nature of unproduced products in the early 80's, accurate numbers are unknown, but it is believed that there are no more than 50 of each Revenge Of The Jedi card back and as such even the most devoted vintage collector won't consider amassing a complete collection, knowing that just have one or some is cool enough.

The original Princess Leia Organa figure didn't get produced on a Power Of The Force card. If the line was successful enough to carry forward, this is what the card back would have been.
