The subject for this edition of eBay Today was supposed to be a very cool in house Lucasfilm piece that many of you would probably loved to know about, but upon doing additional research after finding the auction, I learned that the seller was not to be trusted, and that was enough to put the story on the back burner if and until another one becomes available. For every edition of this column, I try to avoid relying on just my own personal knowledge and dig right into all the resources I have available to me. Luckily, I have a lot of books on Star Wars collectibles and know quite a few people who know much more than me. Beyond all the books and my collecting friends, I do one heck of a lot of googling and forum reading.

Having to abandon the original subject of this edition, I got to thinking about what it takes to find a good eBay seller. Sure, when we're buying up recent Clone Wars figures (which I've been pretty guilty of as of late) we can usually depend on the seller's feedback alone, but when we're looking at spending serious cake on something very rare such as preproduction itms, vintage prototypes, and in house Lucasfilm items, there is a much higher risk involved.

To this point, the safest thing a new collector to high end vintage items (and I'm not talking about Blue Snaggletooth and Yakface here) can do is sign up to the Rebelscum Forum and get to know the collectors that post in the Vintage section. There isn't another place on the Internet that can compare to the Vintage Community that post in our Vintage Forum, and all are more than willing to share their knowledge and opinions on what is being sold both on and off of eBay.

To get you started, here are five sellers that get top honours:

James Gallo -eBay Username 'jgallo'

Todd Chamberlain -eBay Username 'poptoys'

Tom Neiheisel -eBay Username 'nextoy'

James Boryla -eBay Username 'swseller'

...and, even though he currently doesnt have any Star Wars auctions up right now...

Eddie A -eBay Username 'thethingsifind'

Don't take my word that these five sellers are all awesome, sign up to the Rebelscum Forum and find out for yourself!
