This summer, the
British Columbia Lottery Corporation was the only Canadian lottery commission to commemorate the final
Star Wars feature film with a series of Scratch & Win tickets. ...Well, OK, there was that other one in the Maritimes too, but that's for another report... The set, originally planned to be a four-week promotion, ended up taking months to finally run its course.
Series One
The first series featured Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker. The set was easy to find and sold poorly at first. Out of all four sets, these were the easiest to come across.
Series Two
The Second series featured C-3PO and R2-D2, Queen Amidala, and Luke Skywalker. This is the only set to feature a character as they appeared in
The Phantom Menace. These three started showing up well after the promotion had been around for a month.
Series Three
The third series featured Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia. This set came out in late July.
Series Four
The forth set featured Boba Fett, Darth Vader, and Emperor Palpatine. This set came out in late August and was seldom seen in major city venues. It is unclear whether it was produced in lower quantities or allocated to smaller markets and towns all over the province.
All twelve cards featured the same back and game pieces. It is anyone’s guess if any of the prizes were won, since no one seemed to be scratching them. After all, they may be worth up to $50,000CND, but they are first and foremost
Star Wars collectibles.
