The scratchcards, priced £2 each, go on sale from today, ahead of the global release of the film, Episode III
Revenge of Sith, on 19 May. More than 11 million
Star Wars scratchcards have been printed, with a total prize fund of more than £14 million and a whole galaxy of instant cash prizes available to win at launch – from £2 up to a stellar £40,000 top prize. The
Star Wars game features more deisgns than any National Lottery scratchcard ever produced. There are 12 different tickets, in total, each with an image of a classic
Star Wars character, taken from across the series of all six films.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “The Force is strong with this scratchcard. We have worked hard to make sure this is one of the best looking games we have ever produced. In research we spoke to a lot of
Star Wars fans around the UK who told us they wanted to see as many characters as possible from each of the Episodes. That is just what we have done.
“There are six characters from
Revenge of the Sith, the new film, including Darth Vader, C-3PO, Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala. The other six versions include a youthful Luke Skywalker brandishing his lightsaber from
Star Wars Episode IV, the very first film, also Han Solo in
Return of the Jedi and Darth Maul from
The Phantom Menace.”

National Lottery retailer, Angela Lewrey, commented: “I love the
Star Wars movies and am really looking forward to Episode III:
Revenge of the Sith. It’s going to be busy in here when the scratchcards go on sale. They look fantastic so I could do with a garrison or two of Stormtroopers to help me out!”
A major advertising campaign will back the
Star Wars scratchcard launch. Television viewers will see the popular Lady Luck character, alias actress Fay Ripley, imitate Princess Leia and Yoda – to the bemusement of Barry the unicorn, voiced by Graham Norton.
Scratchcards have been one of the cornerstones underpinning the longest period of sustained growth experienced by The National Lottery since 1997. Scratchcard sales have now reached a six year high, with weekly sales terms currently averaging £14 million. Today, if scratchcards were ranked in sales terms against all other FMCG brands in the country they would rank second, with the top spot occupied by Lotto.
Keep an eye out for EuroRebelscum's
Star Wars licensee competition in the third week of May where we will be giving away a ton of prizes - including three sets of scratch cards, one of which is a framed set that is signed by Anthony Daniels himself!
