The third chapter of Lucasfilm's Star Wars Special Edition theatrical release hit the silver screen twenty years ago today. Fans that attended the opening day screenings of Star Wars: Episode VI Return Of The Jedi Special Edition were given the event exclusive Hasbro Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight) Theatre Edition action figure. The film was originally going to be released on March 7, 1997, but was held back a week due to the success of the other two episodes released before it. By the time the decision was made, all the printed media including the packaging for the figure and the theatrical one sheet were released with the originally planned release date.
