Eighty-three years ago, Madame Beatrice Alexander Behrman founded the Alexander Doll Company. Her father, a Russian immigrant, had the first "doll hospital" in America and Madame Alexander often played with the dolls as they waited to be mended. Her lifelong love of dolls led her to create her own line of handcrafted fine quality dolls.

Madame Alexander was also the first to create a doll based on a licensed character; Scarlett from "Gone With The Wind", and dolls in the images of living people such as Queen Elizabeth. The only major manufacturer of handcrafted dolls in America, Madame Alexander dolls are highly collectible.

In 2002, a set of three Star Wars characters was added to this fine collection. Described as "Beautiful Princess Leia, Dashing Han Solo and Noble Luke Skywalker", these three eight inch dolls were produced in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces each. Luke is dressed in a white wrap jacket, black belt, tan pants and knee high suede boots. Leia's hair is styled in two braided twists, and is dressed in her white dress with hood, with a silver medallion around her waist. Han wears navy blue pants, white shirt and black vest. He also sports a black leather belt and black vinyl boots.

So whether you're a doll collector, Star Wars collector, or both, here are three pieces that would be jewels in anyone's collection:
